A few years ago there was a rumor that AOL was going to buy Redhat. Well we didn’t (Good or Bad you decide) however now there is a new type of OS on the forefront, webOS’s. With our recent “dabblings” into Web 2.0 “I THINK” (NOTE: This is not a prediction or insider knowledge) that AOL should buy one of these and LEAVE IT ALONE!

A great one would be eyeOS. I’ve used eyeOS on occasion and between the ability to write .eye applications to upload and use (a la AIM Pages Style) it’s also getting some good attention. ORCA (I have not used but seems to take the same approach however with a more familiar style. However you look at it, Mike Arrington over at Techcrunch says that they’re running with $1,300 in donations so I’m sure we could do a little better with it.

  1. I vividly remember that rumor. It think it would have been awesome for about 5% of AOL members who dare to get off the “windows or mac” path.

As for the eyesOS idea, however the problem I foresee, that you and I have first hand experience with, support infrastructure. Although, if it is distributed online, as opposed to every single retail location across America, then it might be worth a shot to try. We need more AJAX-iness for sure! :)
